How does Sculptra work?
Sculptra® is an FDA-approved injectable that helps stimulate your skin’s natural collagen production. Collagen is a fibrous protein underneath the skin’s surface that provides structure to the skin and is crucial to maintaining your skin’s elasticity and hydration. Your body’s natural collagen production decreases by about 1% per year starting after the age of 18.
Sculptra® replaces the skin’s lost collagen using a synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid. This material is a biodegradable substance that is gradually and naturally absorbed by the body. It is the same material used in dissolvable stitches. Once the content absorbs into your body, it helps stimulate the production of collagen, which plumps up the skin and helps restore fullness below wrinkles and folds.
Results appear gradually over the course of treatment, which involves monthly injections over three months. Effects from Sculptra injections can last more than two years.
What is Sculptra used to treat?
Sculptra ® removes facial wrinkles in the face, including frown lines, marionette lines, and chin wrinkles. It can also restore fullness to your face to counteract the look of hollowness in the temples, jawline and cheeks. Another successful use for Sculptra ® is a non-surgical butt lift.
