What is Kybella?
KYBELLA® is a prescription medicine that is identical to the deoxycholic acid that is produced in the body. it is used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin, also known as “double chin”.
Deoxycholic acid produced in the body helps the body absorb fats. Kybella is a cytolytic drug, which when injected into tissue physically destroys the cell membrane. When properly injected into submental fat, the drug destroys fat cells; however, it can also destroy other types of cells, such as skin cells, if it is inadvertently injected into the skin.
How many treatments do you need and what results should you expect?
Typically, one vial is used per visit. You may need two or three total visits, spaced about a month apart. Some People may get up to two vials in a single treatment. Majority of people notice results in two to four treatments.
Because Kybella destroys the fat cells, once you have reached your esthetic goal, there is no need for further treatments as your results will be permanent.

Is there any downtime?
Majority of patients report minor bruising and swelling that can last up to a few days. Most patients experience mild discomfort at the injection sites which is easily treated with over-the-counter pain relievers.
