Hello Gorgeous!
In this month’s Suh Esthetics Newsletter, I’m excited to share some educational insights about neurotoxin treatments (Botox and Jeuveau) along with some exclusive offers just for you!
First, let’s clarify what Botox is. Botox is a brand name for a neuromodulator produced by Allergan in Ireland. At Suh Esthetics, we also offer Jeuveau, often referred to as “NewTox,” which is a neuromodulator manufactured by Evolus in South Korea. Many people use the term “Botox” generically to describe their treatments, even when a different product is used. This is because Botox was the first product of its kind and remains the most widely recognized name in the U.S.
What is a Neuromodulator?
A neuromodulator, such as Botox or Jeuveau, is a protein derived from purified botulinum toxin type A. When administered in small, controlled doses by a skilled provider, it can temporarily reduce or eliminate fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing the muscles responsible for these facial expressions.
Neuromodulator treatments are not just for cosmetic purposes. They can also be used to address other muscle-related issues, including tension headaches, migraines, spasticity (like twitching eyes), and even muscle size reduction, such as calf slimming.
Botox vs. Jeuveau: How Do I Choose?
Botox and Jeuveau share the same active ingredient but differ in their formulation. Both are FDA-approved for treating facial wrinkles, but Jeuveau incorporates technology that removes dangerous proteins and enhances product absorption, potentially making it safer.
The proteins in Jeuveau are smaller and more uniform compared to Botox, which can result in a quicker onset of effects. Many clients, including myself, notice the benefits of Jeuveau within just a couple of days, while Botox effects can take a few days to weeks to fully appear.
Both products are highly effective, with results lasting an average of 3–4 months. However, Botox, which has been around since 2002, has broader FDA approval for non-cosmetic uses such as treating migraines, spasticity, and excessive sweating.
Ultimately, both are excellent choices, and many of us in the office use them interchangeably. The decision is yours to make!
